Abstract

512,352. Emulsifying-apparatus. CALDWELL, W. J. June 24, 1938, No. 18729. [Class 1 (i)] In emulsifying-apparatus of the reciprocating piston type, the substances to be emulsified are forced past a clack valve C and its seating L and through one or more passages N between the surface of a disc D and the seating O therefor and thence through a delivery outlet F, the clack valve and.the disc being pressed against their seatings by a spring E interposed between them. Fig. 3 shows part of an emulsifier intended for domestic use, G being the bottom of the usual container, and A being the piston. The emulsifying device is held in position by a cap M screwed in to the bottom of the cylinder. Fig. 4 shows the upper side of the disc D with a projection P to locate the spring E, and Fig. 5 shows the V-shaped passages N in the lower face of the disc. The pressure required for emulsification may be governed by adjustment of the screw cap M on the bottom of the cylinder, by the strength of the spring used and/or by the size of the grooves in the disc. Ia the production of artificial cream, hot water can be released when desalting butter by removing the cap.
