Abstract
511,109. Photographic cameras. KODAK, Ltd. Oct. 13, 1938, No. 29665. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1937. [Class 98 (i)] A roll film camera having a shutter actuator ring formed with a lug which engages the setting lever of the shutter includes a gear meshing with the actuator ring, and gearing between this gear and a film sprocket moved by the film, so that winding the film causes the shutter to be set. The front wall 4 of the camera supports a tubular extension 5 carrying a shutter 6 with a setting lever 7 and a release trigger 8 projecting through slots 9, 10. The film F is wound from the spool 13 across the exposure frame 12 over a sprocket 15 and on to a spool 16. The sprocket 15 is carried by a shaft 21 rotatably mounted on brackets 22 and it has fixed to it a bevel gear 23 which meshes with a similar bevel gear 24 carried by a stub shaft 25. A mutilated gear 27 is carried on the end of the shaft 25 and its teeth 28 are adapted to mesh with the teeth 30 on an annular member 31. This member 31 is guided on the extension 5 by a pin 32 and slot 33, and when turned in one direction tensions the shutter and in the other direction releases it, as described in Specification 499,367. A spring 38 acting on the pin 40 returns the member 31 to normal position. An indication that the film is wound into position may be obtained by forming a notch in the shaft 21 to be engaged by a knob on a spring arm. As the film is wound, the teeth 28 of the mutilated gear are brought into engagement with the ring member 31 and tension the shutter.
