Abstract

510,792. Signalling over power circuits. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ROSEBY, P. N. Feb. 7, 1938, No. 3782. [Class 40 (iv)] In a system in which signals are transmitted over a low-tension power network via a hightension network, signals at the receiving end of the H.T. network are lowered in frequency by heterodyning with a locally produced oscillation or with one sent out with the signal. As shown, signals at 2000 and 2800 cycles are applied by apparatus HFG to an L.T. network and are conveyed via an H.T. network 10... 12 to a transformer station B where the two components are filtered out and applied to separate grids of a mixing valve V. The beat frequency is amplified at 13 and applied to an L.T. network 1 ... 3, N. The amplifier 13 may be normally inactive, its cathode heating circuit being closed by a relay in the anode circuit of the mixing valve when a signal is received. Specification. 502,407 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
