Abstract
510,405. Fillers for cartons. COYLE. J. L. Oct. 27, 1938, No. 31068. [Class 18] A filler for a carton to hold eggs, &c. comprises side walls 12<0>, 12<1>, a longitudinal partition 23, and transverse partitions 14 hinged to the side walls and to the partition 23. The walls 12<0>, 12' and an end wall 12x are folded up from a single strip, and the partitions 14 are cut and bent out of the side walls and their inner ends 16 bent round and stitched to the partition 23 while the latter and the side walls are in a collapsed condition. There is a slot-to-slot connection between the end wall 12<x> and the partition 23. The side walls are glued to the sides of the carton and, during the setting-up process, tongues on the lower edge of the partition 23 enter slots 27 in the base of the carton and hold the carton erected. Apertures 32 in the carton walls allow the contents to be inspected. The covering flaps 8, 9 are held closed by tongues 28 on the flap 8 which pass over the upper surface of the outer flap 9 and are doubled-over into slots in that flap.
