Abstract
510,097. Amidines. MAY & BAKER, Ltd. EWINS, A. J., and ASHLEY, J. N. Feb. 1, 1938, No. 3132.' [Class 2 (iii)] Diamidinostilbenes are prepared by treating dicyanostilbenes with anhydrous alcoholic hydrogen chloride or hydrogen bromide, and treating the imino-ethers so obtained with ammonia or a salt thereof. The products have trypanocidal properties. An example is given in which 4:4<1>-dicyanostilbene is treated in nitrobenzene solution with methyl alcohol and dry hydrogen chloride, and the di-iminoether dihydrochloride so obtained is separated and heated with alcoholic ammonia; 4:41- diamidinostilbene is obtained. The provisional Specification refers to the production of substituted amidines by treating the imino-ethers with an amine or a salt thereof. Specification 507,565 is referred to.
