Abstract
509,985. Amusement apparatus. MAXWELL, MANNERS, & PRING, Ltd., CROXSON, E. C. S., and TAYLOR, E. H. G. Dec. 1, 1938, No. 35058. [Class 132 (i)] In a roundabout having passenger carrying bodies h suspended from an overhead structure and free to swing outwards as they rotate, the structure running on an inclined plane so that the bodies h rise and fall during rotation, the bodies are caused to tilt nose upwards and downwards during rotation, this movement being effected positively by the action of the inclined track on the supporting means. The overhead structure comprises arms d jointed to a roller f running on a track plate g. The latter is tilted by a turn buckle k operated by manual or power-operated control means. One arm bears the front of a vehicle and the following arm bears the rear so that the vehicle is positively tilted up and down as the arms proceed round on the track. The bodies h may have electric motors driving air screws o which may render additional means for driving the roundabout unnecessary. Steps m can be swung down from the bodies h to assist passengers to alight. '
