509,567. Ribbed rubber. DORTMUNDER GUMMIWAREN - FABRIK W. PAHL KOMMANDIT-GES. Nov. 3, 1938, No. 31865. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1937. [Class 70] [Also in Groups XXIV and VIII] Relates to driving belts having fabric insertions and rubber layers, and longitudinal ribs located on the driving side. The belt a has fabric insertions b-e which alternate with rubber layers. According to the invention there is inserted between the two lowermost layers a comparatively thick rubber layer, and the structure is then subjected to pressure before and during vulcanization to produce the ribs f and grooves g. At the bottom of the groove the web insertion e is pressed up so as to be closely and firmly connected to the next insertion d, whilst at the middle of the rib parts a comparatively thick rubber layer is left between the insertions d, e. In this marmer a homogeneous structure is produced and any tendency for the ribs to be detached is prevented.
