Abstract

509,531. Centrifugal pumps. TENNANT, W. J. (Payne, J.). June 7, 1938, No. 16943. [Class 110 (i)] A portable pump unit comprises a submersible pump 7 adapted to operate on gravel sludge and similar semi-solid materials, and an encased splash-proof electric driving motor 10. The unit is suspended with its axis vertical. Material to be pumped enters a short pipe 16 and is passed to a delivery by way of a flexible internallyarmoured hose 17. The impeller blades 8 are fitted with detachable wearing shoes 9 which extend round the entrance end of the blades. A water seal 14 is provided.
