[Class 3 (i)] [Also in Group XIV] A series of articles, such as dresses, are moved in a continuous path through a viewing position, the path being curved at that position to display all sides of the articles. Fig. 4 shows in plan view a rail 7 along which ride runners 17 from which may be suspended garment hangers 11 having cross-arms 13. The rail 7 falls from a point C along the rear storage part of the track to a point A, from which it either gradually rises to the point C or lies horizontal to the point B and then rises to C. Runners after passing C ride down the track by gravity to accumulate behind a stop and feed device 21 near the point A. The device 21 consists of a rotating disc slotted at 67 with a shoulder 68 against which an upstanding pin on the runner abuts. The turning of the disc 21 moves the foremost runner along the rail until its pin is caught by the first of a series of rotating fingers 66 and pushed further along the rail 7 till the next finger contacts and continues its progress. The fingers 66 are mounted on spindles geared together so that all rotate in clockwise direction with the exception of those on spindles 33 and 39 located outside the rail 7 at the re-entrant heights, and they are arranged at different heights to clear one another. A motor drives by a worm the main spindle 30, preferably through a slipping clutch, and a detachable connection is provided on the spindle 33 to allow of inspection and correction of the motor and gearing up to that spindle. The disc 21 is also driven by the gear train, but at a speed slow enough to permit one article only passing through the viewing position at a time. This disc may be substituted by a detent tripped electrically or otherwise when a previously displayed article passes a given point. Each hanger has its cross-arm secured in a slotted block 12 by a screwed depending rod 14 which may be weighted at the bottom. Lamps may be disposed above the display position, and the device, enclosed by a decorative cover 73, may be mounted on an adjustable pillar 72.
