[Also in Division B8] In a selective vending machine, rows of articles are place between adjustable tracks 10a-10e, Fig. 1, on horizontal trays A and a hopper having a motor driven coupling means is moved along the front 2 of the tray to engage the coupling with a member 27 whereby the coupling pulls a slider 11 to push one article off the tray into the hopper, the falling article operating a switch or interrupting a light beam to reverse the motor and move back member 27, but not slider 11 so that the machine is ready for another selection. On pulling member 27 to the right, Fig. 4, a disc 23 tilts and grips rod 26 on abuting projection 21 in a slider box 20 so as to move the box to the right. When the rod 26 moves to the left through the base, a projection 22 tilts a disc 24 to grip a rod 25 thereby preventing the slider moving to the left. The slider hinges upwards and can be pulled to the left for refilling the row of articles by rod 31 which engages member 29 to keep the discs upright and ineffective.
