Abstract

508,388. Goggles &c. McCURD, W. B. Jan. 3, 1938, Nos. 96 and 19531. [Class 97 (i)] Anti-glare spectacles comprise a number of rectangular slats of opaque or tinted material extending across each rim and pivotally mounted at their ends, and means for adjusting the inclinations of the slats by turning them about their pivots. The adjustment means preferably acts on all the slats in a rim simultaneously. As shown, each rim 1 carries a ring 6 provided with sockets 8 which receive projections 9 at the ends of a number of slats 10. The means for adjusting the inclination of the slats comprises a member 14 slidably mounted in a slot 13 in the ring, one side 15 of this member projecting inwardly from the periphery of the ring and having a number of slots 16, each of which receives one end of a slat, so that as the member 14 is moved round the ring the slats are tilted about the projections 9. Instead of being part of a spectacle frame, the device may be made to fit on to existing frames by clips &c., and it may be made in two parts for separate attachment to the two rims.
