508,292. Bromine compounds of phytol. HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO. AKT.-GES., F. Jan. 20, 1939, No. 2014. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1938. [Class 2 (iii)] Phytyl monobromide is prepared by the action of phosphorus bromides or hydrogen bromide on phytol. Further action of hydrogen bromide or bromine produces phytyl dibromide and tribromide respectively by adding on at the double bond. The products are starting materials for the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations.
