Abstract

507,172. Shearing. FABRIKS A.B. HALDATAXAMETERN. Dec. 10, 1937, No. 34248. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1936. [Class 83 (iv)] In a machine for severing sheets the curved edges of nipping cutters are arranged in planes which diverge at an acute angle. The lower blade is stationary and is adjusted in height by a screw 45. The upper blade 7 is secured to a holder reciprocated from an electromotor by toggle linkage 10, 11. The upper toggle pin 20 is mounted in an eccentric bush adjusted by a lever 23 to raise and lower the tool. Either end of a connecting rod 13 may carry an eccentric bush for varying the stroke of the toggle, Figs. 8, 9 not shown. The toggle pin 30 may actuate a second toggle. The cutters 7, 9 have cylindrical surfaces terminating in curved cutting edges 52, 53 which are set at an acute angle. In operation the tool 7 is rapidly reciprocated with a short stroke and the part A of the cutter indents the sheet which is subsequently severed by tearing.
