[Class 106 (ii)] Relates to apparatus for testing vehicle brakes of the type in which at least one pair of vehicle wheels rest on driven rollers supported on a carriage and consists in an anchor or hook for connection to the vehicle and connected to a member or members serving either directly or indirectly under the pull applied to the vehicle to lock the carriage against movement. The vehicle wheels are supported on rollers 11 carried by a carriage 10 provided with flanged wheels 12 running on rails 13. Extending forwardly from the carriage are cranked strut members 14 connected by pins to a yoke 17 guided on a central rail 18 of T-section, the yoke members 17 being curved round the flange of the rail to engage it on the under side. A pair of parallel upstanding levers 24 are pivoted to the yoke at the axis 25 and carry pivoted between them at the upper ends a nut member 26 through which works a screwed spindle 27 ending in a hook 28 engaging a chain 29 attached to the axle of the vehicle by another hook 30. The levers at the lower ends are connected by a pivot pin 33 and rearwardly extending links to two parallel and laterally spaced wedges 34 lying between the flange of the rail and inclined surfaces on the yoke. The levers 24 are normally kept in the position shown by a spring plunger 35, 36 pivoted to the levers and engaging a recess in the yoke, and the weight of the wedges is taken by springs 38. When the wheel 31 is turned to apply a pull to the chain 29 the wedges 34 are drawn to the right, Fig. 3, to lock the yoke to the rail 38.
