Abstract

506,814. Type - printing telegraphy. CREED & CO., Ltd., and MASON, F. P. Dec. 3, 1937, No. 33556. [Class 40 (iii)] A typewheel or like shaft 1 is accurately positioned by one or other of two corrector wheels 2, 3, according as a letter in an odd or in an even position on the typewheel is to be selected. The teeth of the corrector wheels are staggered and co-operate with a lever: 5 which is pulled down by a corrector cam or printing- magnet acting on the downward extension 9 of a bracket 7 which carries the lever 5 and is pivoted on a shaft 8. The bracket 7 is moved along the shaft, so that the lever 5 may cooperate with one corrector wheel or the other, by a pivoted fork 11 which is operated by that element, in a 5-element signal combination, which distinguishes between adjacent positions on the typewheel. This may be the last element in each signal in aggregate-motion apparatus of the kind described in Specification 466,815, or some other element in a permutation selecting device. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), two levers, one for each corrector wheel, may be alternatively brought into operation instead of the slidable lever 5. The lever or levers may be selectively operated as described in Specification 499,209.
