Abstract

505,972. Film - producing dressings. BEUTNER, R. Oct. 16, 1937, No. 28242. [Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group IV] Therapeutic preparations for application to the skin are prepared by mixing a resinous alcohol-soluble phenol-formaldehyde condensate with a medicinal agent for the treatment of the skin and with alcohol in such proportions as to produce a composition capable of leaving, on drying, a substantially dry film. The medicinal agents that may be used are tars, salicylic acid, benzoic acid, malachite green, gentian violet and other medicinal dyes, iodine, metaphen, mercuro chrome and other mercurial disinfectants, camphor and related compounds, hydroxyquinoline, ethyl aminobenzoate, orthoform, resorcinol, hexyl resorcinol; hiberylin and other resorcinol derivatives, thymol, guaiacol, eugenol, stearoptens and volatile oils, silver nitrate and bichloride of mercury.
