Abstract

[Class 117] , In a separator, the material falls through a number of separating zones where it is exposed to variable air currents and is positively turned over between the zones to expose it on all sides to the air currents. In the form shown, the material leaving the hopper is subjected to a blast of compressed air at b and four separating zones are provided, each with its own duct for an upward air current and each zone has a device a, a<1>-a<3> for turning over the particles. The devices may be in the form of shaking devices or rollers provided with vanes. The coarse dust carried upwards from the first two zones is separated out in a cyclone separator d and the fine dust also the dust from the other two zones in separator f,. but if desired a separate separator may be used in conjunction with each zone.
