[Class 82 (i)] [Also in Groups XXII and V] In casting and treating molten metals, alloys, and other materials continuously poured by a pipe into a bottomless and preferably watercooled mould, for example for deoxidizing copper or for the removal of undesired metallic admixtures, the stream is deflected to prevent deep penetration and eddies in the liquid head. When a treating substance or alloying metal is to be added as described in Specification 505,427, it may be supplied by a branch pipe or a separate pipe entering the same cup as the main pipe. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also means for supplying two different metals at the rates required to produce the desired alloy by selecting appropriate sections of the supply pipes and pressures in the supply tanks. An alloy of aluminium and lead may be produced. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
