504,336. Controlling aircraft. JUNKERS FLUGZEUG - UND - MOTORENWERKE AKT..GES. Oct. 12, 1938, No..29543. Convention date, Oct. 28; 1937. [Class 4] An auxiliary wing is adapted to be displaced relatively to a main wing by positive guiding-means such that a definite angle of adjustment of the auxiliary wing corresponds positively with each position attained during displacement and the arrangement is such that the operating mechanism, after moving the. auxiliary wing to an extended position, can be further adjusted so that, while the chord of the entire unit is modified to a slight degree, the angle of incidence of the auxiliary wing is considerably modified. In one form, the wing flap 2 is mounted on arms 4'articulated in the wing 1 as shown. The flaps are connected to the arms by universal joints 6. Links 9 are ball-jointed to brackets 7 on the arms and to levers 11 rigidly attached to the wing 2. The end 10 of the lever is displaced from the universal joint 6 as shown. In a modification, the link 4, Fig. 6, is pivoted to the wing and the universal joint 6 about oblique axes 5, 14 and the joint 6 is pivoted about an axis 13 in the flap. The links are disposed at spaced intervals along the flap.
