[Class 38 (v)] A switch mechanism and a fuse mechanism are mounted in superposed planes in an enclosing box on a common interposing carrier member which is pivotally mounted for installation and inspection purposes but which remains stationary during the normal operation of the switch. A carrier plate b of open formation is pivoted to the box a at b<1> and has parts b<2> bent downwardly to provide bearings for a shaft c carrying an operating handle and contact blades c<2>, c' and associated with lostmotion mechanism and a spring rod. The blades c<2>, c<3> coact respectively with contacts d<1> on an insulating base d attached to the member b and with fixed contacts a<1> on the base of the box a. The base d carries fuses d<2> . Apertures in the plate b receive parts d<5> of the base d carrying the outgoing terminals d<6>. The lid e is pivoted to the free extremity of the plate b at b<3>. The plate b and lid e may be secured in the closed position by screws b<4> ,e<1> respectively. The box is slotted for the passage of the shaft c and the handle may coact with a flange on the lid to prevent opening when the contacts are closed. In a modification, the carrier plate and lid have a common pivot.
