Abstract

503,012. Prisms. BAUER, K., and DAESCHNER, A. Aug. 26, 1937, No. 6632 /39. Divided out of and addition to 501,409 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 28, 1938. [Class -97 (i)] A prism is provided with a number of internal reflecting surfaces arranged in one or more pairs of rows, the reflecting surfaces in each row being parallel to one another, symmetrically arranged and oppositely inclined with respect to those of the other row of the pair, and the angles between corresponding surfaces in a pair of rows being different from 90‹, the reflecting surfaces acting to deflect incident rays out of their original direction into a direction parallel thereto at least once, and finally back into their original direction, so that the rays have a lengthened path in the prism without ultimate displacement or change of direction. In the form shown the angle between the surfaces of the two rows is 60‹ ; the path of a ray through the prism is shown by the arrows.
