[Class 37] [Also in Group XL] A capacitative coupling is arranged so that both the sense and the degree of coupling may be varied. In Fig. 3 is shown a system for coupling lines L<SP>1</SP> and L <SP>11</SP> using three pairs and two single flat plates, the pairs a and b being connected together and to one line L<SP>1</SP>, the pair c being connected to the other line L', and the two plates and e being connected respectively to the lines L<SP>11</SP> and being movable between pairs a, band c. Alternatively, the coupling may comprise pairs of coaxial cylindrical surfaces as shown in Fig. 6, the transition of the capacitative elements in the line sections being continuous to prevent reflections at the points of connection.
