Abstract

502,459. Distilling hydrogen peroxide. SCHMIDT, H. Aug. 31, 1938, No. 25526. [Class 32] Solutions which liberate hydrogen peroxide on heating are distilled by atomizing them, preferably into an evacuated heated distilling chamber, with a superheated liquid heat carrier; which remains wholly or largely liquid during distillation. The heat carrier is preferably under excess pressure, produced by means of a stabilizing gas such as oxygen. Suitable heat carriers are inactive liquids such as the distillation residue of the process, which may be used cyclically, preferably with the addition of a stabilizer such as phosphoric acid, benzoic acid, lauric acid, or urea. Additional heat may be supplied to the. atomized solution by means of heating surfaces, or by injecting heated gas or vapour, e.g. superheated steam, into the chamber.
