Abstract
502,278. Electrolytic surface treatment of aluminium. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Jan. 14, 1938, No. 1304. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1937. [Class 41] [Also in Group XIII] Grids or container pans of ice-making trays having a surface of aluminium or aluminium alloy are treated anodically to form a highly activated coating of aluminium oxide and are then immersed in molten wax in order to facilitate the separation of ice therefrom. The waxing treatment is preferably carried out shortly after anodizing without the intervention of a hot-water sealing treatment. A suitable wax consists of 50 per cent paraffin wax and 50 per cent carnauba wax.
