Abstract

500,335. Fuze lighters. ROLFES, Ltd., and SCHNEIDER, E. June 15, 1938, No. 17861. [Class 75 (iii)] A holder for a fuze lighter is provided at one end with a retaining member 1 in the form of a burner comprising a pair of convergent lips 7, against which the lighter a bears, and a diametral slot 2 of a width slightly less than the diameter of the lighter to provide side openings through which ash may fall. The burner is formed with an integral flange 3 to prevent the lips 7 from being damaged. The body of the holder 11 is formed from sheet metal bent into tubular form, and is provided with a slot 12 along which slides a pin 21 secured to a plunger 20 by which the lighter is fed forward. The burner 1 is secured to the body 11 by means of a hinge pin 16 and a split pin 17, the latter of which may be sealed or. otherwise made secure to prevent unauthorized removal of the burner. A looped cord or the like 18 is attached to the bottom of the holder for convenience in hanging up the lighter or for carrying it. Fig. 5 shows a locking device alternative to the split pin 17 shown in Fig. 1, in which tongues 22, 23, stamped out of flanges 14 of the holder 11 engage in openings in the bifurcated lug 9 of the burner. The burner may be unlocked by passing the pin points of a pair of pliers through the openings in the lug 9 to press the tongues 22, 23 together.
