Abstract

500,231. Safety belts for aircraft &c. CRABTREE, H. S. Aug. 18, 1937, No. 22677. [Class 141] A safety belt for maintaining passengers in the seats of aircraft &c. or in bunks and of substantially non-extensible material, is provided with one or more shock-absorbing devices 6, 7, each comprising a length of elastic webbing &c. attached to the inner surface of the belt by spring buttons 8, 9, or by stitching or riveting in such a manner that in the unstretched condition of the belt the latter is shortened and sags between the points of attachment of each length of elastic webbing &c. The belt is provided with length adjusting devices 4, 5, and is either single or in two parts 1, 2, the adjoining edges of which are connected by a readily releasable buckle 3. In a modification, the length of each shock-absorbing device or the distance between the points of connection thereof may be varied.
