Abstract
497,536. Centrifugal hydro-extractors. CASAGRANDE, A. April 14, 1938, No. 11601. Convention clate, April 15, 1937. [Class 23] A centrifugal extractor, particularly for dehydrating textile fibres, has a truncated conical basket 3 and an internal rotor 4 with helices to move the fibres through the basket : the angle of slope between each of the surfaces of the basket and the rotor with the axis is between eighteen degrees and thirty-five degrees, according to the nature of the fibres, so that these are not held on to the surface by friction. The basket and the rotor have different angles of slope so that the space between them is wider at the top than at the bottom ; they are driven at different speeds through gearing in the gear box 9. The fibres are fed in through the hopper 2 and they are prevented from settling on the tops of the helices by teeth 6 fixed inside the top of the basket 3. They are also prevented from settling on the arms of the spider 5 at the exit of the basket, by a projection 7 at the lower end of each helix. The liquid extracted from the fibres passes through the basket wall to the container 8 and the dried material passes downwards.
