Abstract

497,283. Stays for hinged articles ; door - operating appliances. WILKES BERGER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and BARLTROP, A. C. June 15, 1937, No. 16657. [Class 65 (i)] One end 10 of a lid stay 5 is connected to a polygonal frame, of which one side is formed by a spring 14, while another side 8 is adjustable in length by adjusting the end of the spring in a slot 9 by means of a nut 13. The third side of the frame is a link 11, which may engage an adjustable stop 15 to limit the opening of the lid. The stay 5 may be detachably pivoted to the lid by providing it with an edge slot adapted to engage the pivot 17 and to be held by a curved washer 18 engaging a curved recess in the stay and pressed thereon by a nut 19. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the stay 25 and link 31 are of U-section enclosing the spring 34.
