Grates.-A fall-bar a capable of being secured in the vertical position, Fig. 6, or in a horizontal position over or in front of the fire, Fig. 4, is provided at one or both ends with a pivot b of elliptical or similar shape having long and short diameters and working in an opening c in the framed. Nibs e support the fall-bar in the horizontal positions. To permit the fall-bar to be placed in or removed from the frame, the latter is formed on one side, as shown in Fig. 8, and a keeper f, Fig. 9, carrying one of the nibs e', is secured to it.
