Abstract

[Class 38(v)] An aerodrome boundary light comprises a lamp b mounted on a metal tube a fixed at its lower end to a ground plate p which covers a box g containing a transformer r for supplying current to the lamp b. Current passes from the transforme to a fixed insulated conductor e, through a conductor d which is spring- urged away from e, but is normally held in contact with it by a spring-urged conductor c, thence to the lamp, the tubular post serving as a return conductor. The post a is weakened by an annular groove i so that if an aircraft collides with the lamp the post breaks at i. Circuit is then broken between d and e, leaving no live parts exposed. Also flange k on conductor e closes aperture in bushing g and prevents the entry of moisture.
