Abstract
496,606. Zeroizing-mechanism. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., and BINNS, A. Sept. 8, 1937, No. 24454. [Class 106 (i)] A zeroizing-mechanism for the totalizing or counting apparatus used in conjunction with indicating mechanism of the kind described in Specification 479,031, [Group XXXVIII], comprises means, associated with the electric switch mechanism in the circuit that controls the electromagnetic clutch for disconnecting the secondary pointer from the indicating pointer, so that on the actuation of the zeroizing means the circuit is maintained broken until the zeroizing movement has been completed. As shown in Fig. 1, the counting apparatus 3, which is of known type, has a resetting shaft 4 with an arm 5 in engagement with a roller on a lever 7, the other end of which is supported by a bush 11 and coiled spring 13 slidably mounted on a rod 12. The rod 12 is guided for vertical movement in the casing 10 and bracket 14 and carries a fixed collar 15. Adjustably mounted on the rod is a U-shaped bracket 16 having a pawl 18 that co-operates with ratchet teeth on a plate 19 secured to an arm 20. The arm 20 is pivoted to a block 22 and is controlled by a pin 20a thereon engaging leaf springs 23. The lower end of the rod 20 bears on an insulating plate 24 on the spring arm 25 of a pair of contacts in the clutch circuit referred to. The contacts are carried by a plate 29 adjustable on a bracket 27. To effect zeroizing the rod 12 is raised and the full rocking movement of the lever 7 is ensured by the ratchet teeth 19 and pawl 18, the circuit being broken during the time the rod 12 is out of normal position.
