[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group II] A distributer for mixing the coal-air streams from a plurality of pulverizers, and transmitting a flow of uniform coal-air ratio to all the burners of a furnace, comprises a frustoconical shell 15 within which is fixed a coaxial frusto-conical baffle 18. The inlet pipes 13 from the pulverizers are disposed symmetrically around the top of the annulus between the cones 15 and 18, and the delivery pipes 21 to the burners symmetrically at the top of the inside of the baffle. The cone 18 has a steeper angle than the cone 15, and the downward moving streams are deflected by. a curved impingement plate 20 up into the pipes 21. Valves 22 allow of manual control of the flow through each pipe 21. In a variation of this form the baffle 18 is adjustable vertically by a hand-operated screw to alter the gap above the plate 20. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the inlet streams first mix in a cone 25 and then proceed downward into a conical baffle 30 to be deflected at 31 into the annulus between the baffle and an outer frusto-conical shell 29 to reach the delivery tubes 21. In Fig. 5, the baffle 39 is of streamlined form, and a damper 44 is located beneath it to regulate the effective flow and keep the bottom of the casing 33 free of deposited coal. Slidable disc valves 41, 42 cover the inlet pipes 40 and the outlet pipes 42.
