Abstract

<PICT:0496136/IV/1> <PICT:0496136/IV/2> In a modification of the apparatus according to the parent Specification comprising a closed rotary precipitation vessel communicating along its axis with a non-rotary precipitation vessel, the rotary precipitation vessel has a cover provided with a tube affording communication between the two vessels, the said tube fitting into the non-rotary precipitation vessel and provision is made to cut off the flow of precipitation liquid between the two vessels when the cover of the rotary vessel is opened and lifted. Viscose is supplied through a tube 1 carrying the rotary nozzle 2 and the lower part 3 of the rotary vessel, the upper part of which consists of a tube 5 with flange 4 having claws 6 engaging projections 7. Apertures 8 permit escape of the precipitation liquid supplied from trough 13 into tube 5. The rate of flow of the liquid is controlled by interchangeable discs 9 of variable weight and diameter, and having a variable weight and diameter, and having a variable number of grooves 10. The tube 5 is guided at the top in a rubber nipple 11 on a branch 12 of the trough 13. Grooves 14 inside the tube receive pins 15 secured to a ring 16 holding a rubber band 17 surrounding a short pipe 18 which fits by means of a spherical member 26 rotatably into a stationary tube 19 secured by partitions 20 to the branch 12. Members 18, 19 may be removed in the upward direction and separated for cleaning. Fig. 2 shows the apparatus with the cover 4 of the rotary vessel held in open position by cooperating lugs 21, 22. A tube 23 with valve 24 is employed for filling the lower part 3 of the rotary vessel. The tube 5 extends in working position into the rotary vessel and beyond the nozzle 2. The tube 5 may be conical with the small diameter at the bottom. This causes an acceleration of the speed of rotation of the liquid column and eliminates too great stress on the threads just after formation. A number of spinning points may be arranged below a single trough.
