Abstract
495,326. Refrigerators. FLAVEL, P. May 10, 1937, No. 13302. [Class 29] [Also in Group XI] A door for a heat-retaining cabinet such as a cooking-stove or a refrigerator comprises a cast metal inner part 11, formed with apertures 14, 15 to provide seatings for the hinges and the door-handle spindle 24 respectively, and having, adjacent its edges, projecting flanges 13 over which fit the bent-over ends 19 of an outer sheet-metal cover 18. The latter is apertured at 20, 22 to accommodate the hinges and the spindle 24 and has its upper edge 21 bent over to engage with a projection 131 on the upper edge of the inner part 11. The interior of the door is packed with insulating- material 27 and the two parts 11, 18 are secured together by screws 17 screwed into the flanges 13 and having cylindrical heads projecting into holes 23 in the cover 18. Fig. 9 shows the invention applied to a door having a transparent panel 33, the inner part 11 and the outer cover 18 being correspondingly apertured and the panel 33 being secured between the edges 30 of the part 11 and a clamping frame 32 carried by lugs 31 on the part 11.
