Abstract
494,798. Moving signs. SCHWEIGER, J. Nov. 5, 1937, No. 30432. Convention date, July 14, 1937. [Class 3 (i)] An advertising or display device comprises a closed liquid container consisting of two glass vessels a, b connected by tubes c, the whole framework a, b, c being pivoted at f and carrying by clips e a display panel d. A lamp k, located in a housing i topped by a funnel l, is disposed below the vessel b so as gradually to warm the liquid therein, which is under reduced pressure, and cause it to boil and condense in the cooler vessel a. The accumulation of liquid in the vessel a eventually causes the container and panel to turn through 180‹, after which the process is repeated by the heating of vessel a. Lenses directing sunlight on to the lower vessel may replace the lamp k. The vessels a, b may be cylindrical or spherical, and may be connected by a single straight tube and cause a display disc to turn in its own plane.
