Abstract
494,591. Kinematograph apparatus. KODAK, Ltd. April 27, 1937, No. 12053. Convention date, May 16, 1936. [Class 97 (i)] In apparatus receiving a reversible magazine having two exposure apertures normally covered by a resiliently-controlled shutter, two spring members are provided, one of which acts during insertion of the magazine, on a projection connected to the shutter to open the aperture in exposure position, and the other of which acts similarly when the magazine is inserted in reversed position. As shown, the magazine 10 has exposure apertures 11, 12, simultaneously covered and uncovered by a shutter 20 mounted on a pin 19, which projects from a gate plate 18 through the front wall of the magazine, and locates the magazine in the apparatus, as described in Specification 494,590. An operating member 22 is pivoted to the shutter, and has a pin 23 extending through a lot 48 in the front wall of the magazine ; a disc 27 on the pin 23 covers the slot 48, and a wire spring 44 engages under a bent part of the member 22 so as normally to turn the shutter into a position covering the apertures. Spring members 28, each comprising a substantially circularly curved portion 31 and a straight portion 32, are carried by studs 29, 30 in the apparatus. The magazine is inserted laterally in the manner indicated in Fig. 3, a spring- urged member 34, which normally holds the magazine in correct exposure position, being held, during the insertion, in the broken-line position shown, by a sliding latching bar 33 for the cover of the apparatus. Forward movement of the latching bar, after closure of the cover, permits the member 34 to move the magazine forward into exposure position, and the members 28 then lie close to the front of the magazine, one of them, during the operation, engaging the pin 23 and turning the shutter into open position. The other member 28 may then engage a locating pin 39 extending from the front of the magazine into an aperture 40 in the objective block of the apparatus. When the magazine is inserted in the reversed position, the actions of the members 28 are interchanged. Specification 494,589 also is referred to.
