494,311. Vibratory mechanism. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE OBERHAUSEN AKT.- GES. April 23, 1937. Nos. 11719 and 11720. Convention dates, April 23, 1936 and Nov. 30, 1936. [Class 80 (iv)] A mass d is mounted to slide in a slot s in a flywheel w and is normally held against stops h at the bottom of the slot by springs e of such strength that it does not respond to centrifugal force until the critical or resonance speed has been exceeded. The working speed is somewhat higher than that required to raise the mass to the top i of the slot. The travel of the mass may be regulated by means of screws l. Fig. 4 shows two such devices applied to the spring-supported shaft g of a vibratory grinding mill. On the right is shown the position occupied by the mass d while the machine is working at its maximum, and on the left the position at speeds below the critical speed.
