Abstract

494,287. Vacuum cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Jan. 22, 1938, No. 2147. Convention date, Feb. 19, 1937. [Class 8 (i)] In a suction cleaner the body A of the cleaner, including the suction nozzle, has knife edges D which engage grooves B<2> in a chassis B to form a pivotal mounting. A bolt F is secured to the body and a spring E is arranged within the cup E<1> and between the underside of the chassis and a nut F<1>. The spring is arranged slightly behind the plane of the knife edges so that it counterbalances at least a part of the weight of the body and relieves pressure between the nozzle and the carpet. The height adjusting mechanism of the nozzle is the same as that described in Specification 494,258.
