Abstract

469,379. Vacuum cleaners. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. Feb. 26, 1937, No. 5866. Convention date, March 16, 1936. [Class 8 (ii)] In a suction cleaner in which a filter bag 14 is clamped at its edge between the main casing 10 and the cover 11, arrangements are provided so that the filter bag, on the removal of the cover, is lifted off its seating so that it is not necessary to grasp the bag itself when its removal is necessary. This is effected by spring-loaded bolts 24 which are located in housings 23 secured to the outside of the casing 10. The heads of the bolts bear against the underside of packing-ring 19 which stiffens the edge 18 of the bag. The removal of the cover allows the spring bolts to lift the filter bag from its seating. Alternatively the spring edge of the filter bag is corrugated and is temporarily pressed flat between the edge 1 of the cover and main casing. The same end may be reached by corrugating these edges and giving the spring edge of the filter bag a flat form. In a further modification, the cover carries a hook which causes the raising of the filter bag from its seat on lifting the cover.
