Abstract
Friction elements have a binder consisting of a polymerizing or otherwise drying fatty oil and a trihydroxybenzoic acid or tannin, with or without an iron salt of ferro-cyanic or ferricyanic acid. Sulphur may be added. An exemplary composition consists of asbestos, pyrobituminous material, such as bituminous or soft coal, polymerized linseed oil, sulphur, petroleum naphtha, gallic acid and Prussian blue.
