[Class 6 (ii)] A rigid non-collapsable plant pot, which is polygonal in cross-section and consists of plane upstanding walls and a base provided with one or more drainage holes, is made from a one-piece blank of unimpregnated card which, after being formed into the shape of the pot, is impregnated throughout by dipping into a water-repelling impregnating liquid comprising a fatty, waxy, or resinous substance, or a mixture of such substances. The Figure shows a cardboard or wood-pulp blank creased to form side walls 11 ... 14, base flaps 15 ... 18, and a joining flap 19. Drainage holes 20 ... 23 come into register when the blank is folded. In a modification the two flaps 15, 17 have their narrower parts cut away. In another the two square flaps 16, 18 are dispensed with, triangular side drainage holes being left when the tapering flaps 15, 17 are folded over to form the base of the pot. In a modification of this arrangement the two walls 12, 14 are extended beyond the hinge creases of the flaps 15, 17 to form feet. In another modification the flaps 15, 17 are creased parallel to the hinge creases so that the base may be above the surface on which the pot stands. The two side walls 12, 14 may then be notched or arched at the bottom. When the blank is folded the flaps may be glued, stitched, or stapled in position and the pot dipped into a molten mixture of paraffin wax and rosin. The pots may be triangular, square, or hexagonal in section and their sides may be vertical or inclined. The flaps may be secured by the impregnating substance or by tongues and slits. Air holes in the sides may be in the form of pinholes or slits. The impregnating material may contain fertilizers or substances which repel plant pests. U.S.A. Specification 1,993,620 is referred to.
