Abstract

493,556. Automatic firearms. SOSSO, G. April 14, 1937, No. 10640. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 15, 1937.] [Class 119] Relates to automatic firearms in which a pivoted hammer 11 is connected by a link 12 to a lever 10 pivoted at 10a and carrying a pivoted catch 15 co-operating with a pawl 14 on the trigger 13. According to the invention a fixed stop 15b is provided for co-operation with the catch which then operates as explained below. When the breech block 3 is pulled back by hand for reloading in the known way, it turns the hammer 11 back and the lever 10 is thereby turned forward against the pressure of main spring 9 acting through a sleeve 8 and pins 8a, whereupon the catch 15 rocks and engages the stop 15b, which retains this mechanism in the cocked position. After this hand loading and cocking operation, the breech block 3, which in its front part surrounds the barrel, is returned forward by the spring 9. If then the trigger 13 is pulled, the pawl 14 thereon engages a bent on the catch 15 and rocks this catch out of engagement by the stop 15b. Further pull of the trigger causes the pawl to ride over the catch 15 and release the lever 10, whereupon firing takes place and is repeated until the trigger is released, when a spring 16 between the pawl 14 and the trigger causes the restoration of these parts to their normal position, whereupon the firing mechanism remains cocked. This mechanism can be uncocked by gentle hand operation of hammer and trigger, and after this uncocking can be cocked again by a mere partial pull of the trigger, a further pull bringing about firing. During the firing operation, the barrel recoils slightly against the spring 9 and by means of rack and pinion 7, 6 and lever 17 on said pinion throws breech block 3 fully back. An extractor 18 and a striker 19 with rebound spring 20 are provided in known manner. The grip 2 contains a curved magazine containing an endless belt as described in Specification 461,598. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a safety device, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), comprising a transverse member 22, which under the influence of a spring 23 normally locks the striker 19. When the trigger is pressed, it lifts a rod 24 and this wedges the member 22 aside bringing a recess 22b therein in line with the striker, which is thus unlocked. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
