Abstract
493,347. Control of motors ; automatic control systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 2, 1937, No. 6224. Convention date, March 2, 1936. Addition to 461,444. [Class 38 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXV] Brake devices.-In a regulating device according to the parent Specification, for use with a direct-current motor M, in which the motor T operating the brake is disconnected from the supply on low speed positions of the controller, and connected across a resistance in series with the main motor, the circuit of the main motor through the resistance is opened on certain additional positions of the controller, and the brake motor is connected to the mains in series with the armature of the main motor. Alternatively, in the case of a serieswound main motor the brake motor is connected to the mains in series with a generator driven by the main motor. In the first case speed regulation is effected' by field control of the main motor, and in the second case by field control of the generator. The Specification as open , to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also an arrangement including an auxiliary switch whereby the power connection of the main motor is restored at the first positions of the controller in the lifting and lowering directions. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
