Abstract

493,102. Mechanical switches without quick action. DENT, H., and OSMOND, C. E. March 30, 1937, No. 9036. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Groups XL and XXXV] A selector unit, particularly for wave-band switching in an all-wave receiver, comprises a plurality of drum-like units mounted on a single shaft, rotation of which effects the circuit changes. The drums are divided into radial compartments by members 14, Fig. 2, which, together with the peripheral plates 13, constitute one unit segment of the drum, removable as a unit by removing two screws 17b, Fig. 1. Each segment carries a complete tuning coil 18, padder condenser 19c and trimmer condenser 19, the coil inductance and trimmer capacity being adjustable externally by screws 22, 19a. The coil is mounted on a base portion 21 formed in the plate 13, and has an adjustable iron-dust core. Rotation of the whole assembly effects connection between the contacts 24 on the drum and fixed flexible contacts 5. Each complete unit may also incorporate a switch 26e, h, j which may insert filter circuits in the aerial circuit and also carries a contact for switching from radio to gramophone reproduction, the high frequency circuits then being disconnected.
