Abstract
492,061. Mops. BRIGGS, EMMOTT, & CO., Ltd., BANHAM, W., and NEAL, G. B. April 20, 1937, No. 11210. [Class 19] In mops of the type in which the mop material is parallel with the socket and handle or stail, the socket is formed of flexible material. In one construction, a separate piece of material C, Fig. 3, is stitched at c to a strip B of textile fabric, rubber, leather &c. to the edge of which, or between two strips of which, the mop material A is secured. The strip is rolled up with the piece C in the centre to form the socket, and the handle D, Fig. 1, is inserted in the socket and secured by nails &c. d. In a modified construction, the socket is formed from the strip itself by folding it and securing its folded edges together by a U-shaped fastener, by stitching, or by lacing. In another construction, the strip is wound round a wooden ferrule and secured to it by pins. In a further construction, the socket is formed from two strips arranged at right-angles to one another and joined together where they cross, the edges of the strips then being turned upwards and secured together by tape, elastic, &c.
