Abstract
491,765. Folding napkins &c. JESUS, H. L. L. Jan. 10, 1938, No. 666. Convention date, Jan. 12, 1937. [Class 42 (ii)] A napkin &c. to be folded is spread out on an inclined spring pressed table 25' pivoted at its lower end and is pushed under a fixed roller 28 and against guide plates &c. The napkin is seized by grippers 39 on pivoted arms 31 which pull the napkin over the folding table and then release it. The folding table consists of a number of sections 1a ... 1f of different sizes pivoted at or near their edges so that each can be turned through 180‹ on to an adjacent section, to fold the napkin &c. The section If turns the folded napkin &c. on to a plate 1g which is moved by a shaft 46 until it is opposite one of the bins 54 and then tipped up to discharge the napkin &c. The arms 31 are oscillated and the shaft 46 reciprocated by a cam 38 on the underside of a disc 17, while the shaft 46 and all the other shafts 2 which rotate the table sections 1a ... 1f and the plate 1g are oscillated by a cam groove 16 in the upper face of the disc 17 through cranks, links, toothed sectors 5, and pinions 4. The bin 54 into which any napkin &c. is delivered is determined by the operator through a hand lever 73.
