Abstract

491,704. Endless - belt conveyers. JOHNS, H. S. Feb. 22, 1938, No. 5621. [Class 78 (i)] A feeding hopper 5 for tubular belt conveyers is carried by channelled members 3, 1, the connecting bolts 7 being adjustable to bring the hopper to the correct height and level. The bottom of the hopper is fitted with longitudinally adjustable angle irons 21, the top faces of which are slotted to receive clamping bolts 25 and the vertical walls of which come flush with the edges of the conveyer belt 9. The forward ends of the vertical walls are rounded at 26 to take round the edges of the cover belt 13 where it meets the belt 9 after passing round its pulley 22. A cover member 33, adjustable in height to suit different materials, is similarly rounded at its front end. The rear pulley 30 round which the belt 9 passes is grooved at 32 to take circular partitions 31 extending from the belt, and a fixed cover member 41 takes over these partitions where they leave the pulley 30. The belt 9 passes through a tunnel 28 extending across a feeding shoot 29, and under the hopper 5 it slides over saddles 14 of waxed wood &c. curved to fit under the belt and spaced apart to accommodate its central rib 11. The saddles are supported on angle irons 16 adjustable in height and level by bolts and nuts 18, 19. Specification 444,472 is referred to.
