Abstract

490,672. Valve amplifying circuits. PYE, Ltd., (formerly PYE RADIO, Ltd.), and CALLENDAR, M. V. Feb. 9, 1937, No. 3856. [Class 40 (v)] In a low-frequency amplifier, voltage feedback to the input is caused to vary with the output by feeding back the voltage from a potential divider which is connected across the output, and which includes an element having a non-linear voltage-resistance characteristic, such as an electric incandescent lamp. In the Figure voltage is fed back from one diagonal of a bridge, the arms comprising the three linear resistances R5, R6, R7, and the filament of an incandescent lamp L, the load circuit LS being taken from a split secondary. The resistance R6 may be a further lamp. In Fig. 1 (not shown) resistances R6, R7 are omitted, and the elements R5, L are connected across the load circuit LS. The system may be used either for volume expansion or compression and may be. applied to a public address amplifier. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 479,485.
