Abstract
488,967. Controlling aircraft. POLLOPAS PATENTS, Ltd. (RougÚ, C. R. A.-M. de) July 2, 1937, No. 18468. [Class 4] In an aircraft provided with controlling and stabilizing surfaces disposed above the supporting-planes, the surface comprises a plurality of independently adjustable units mounted one behind the other, side by side, or on universal joints. In one form, two independent surfaces 2, 3 are articulated on the axle 1. In a modification the part 2 is fixed relatively to the aircraft and, in a further form, a central section 11 is pivotally mounted on a support 14 and carries adjustable articulated surfaces 10, 12. In a still further form, three adjustable surfaces are disposed side by side on a common axle. In another modification the surfaces are adjustable on axles universally pivoted to the support and independently adjustable. The surfaces may be adjusted independently of, or together with, the usual aircraft controlling and stabilizing surfaces if provided. Specifications 362,776 and 459,639 are referred to.
