488,857. Control of several motors. TURNMILLING CORPORATION. Jan. 11, 1937, No. 824. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1936. [Class 38 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] Three motors 12, 244, 110 are used respectively for driving the cutter spindles, the cam-shaft, and the work spindle of a milling machine-tool and the electrical circuits are so arranged that the cutter spindle motor is prevented from being stopped prior to stoppage of the work-spindle motor and the camshaft motor and these last two motors are also prevented from being started prior to the starting of the cutter spindle motor. Closure of the push-button switch 280 energizes the solenoids 282, 284 closing the main switch 272 for the spindle motor and the switch 286. Operation of the push-button switch 304 closes the switches 292 and 300 which energize solenoids 290 and 234 closing the main switch 276 for the cam-shaft motor 244 and releasing a stop for the cam-shaft respectively. A switch 204 is released by a part already set in motion and this closes, thus enabling the solenoid 298 to be energized and to switch in the work-spindle motor 110 when the cam-rod 56 rises to close the normally open switch 58. The work-spindle motor rotates the work through either 180 or 360 degrees, whereupon the spitch 204 is opened and the workspindle motor is stopped, the cam-shaft rotates to repeat the cycle until the switch 246 is opened by the cam 218.
